It has been an interesting journey as my small business has grown and molding has been one of the interesting things to happen. I have used this process for many years in my designs but I had just a little hands-on experience with it. As it turns out one of my clients needed molded urethane parts and I decided to give it a try. Since then Urethane Molding has become a great asset to Terminus Design. Also, using existing machined parts as a master I have made molds to replicate plastic versions of metal parts.
Now, Terminus Design isn’t a replacement for a specialized Urethane Molding Shop but I have come a long way and I have produce some nice parts in a short period of time.
I have made soft and hard tooling and I have developed my own injection system for small parts. This is low pressure and is used when gravity feed isn’t practical. For example some parts I have made are so small that some pressure is required to move the material though the mold.
I have made parts as small as .125 X .020 X 4.00 this way.
